Abstract
Rich Internet Applications are a hot topic at the moment; with Adobe, Microsoft
and Sun vying for our attention in a post-AJAX world.
JavaFX is a family of products for creating rich internet applications (RIA)
with immersive media and content, across all the screens of your life. It
includes a runtime and a tools suite that web scripters, designers and
developers can use to quickly. With JavaFX to be launched on December 2008, Sun
hopes to attract a new class of developer while building a much-needed new
revenue source from the new creative community like mash-up builder, graphics
designer, creative director, to the media editor.
This new user also need more than 3D effects which can be created easily by the
Perspective Transform built inside it. By adding a resizable Node to a JavaFX
Scene, we can make our real 3D shown.
In the beginning of my talk, the attendees will gain understanding about Java3D,
as an API enabling applications that call functions of the OpenGL and DirectX
drivers to create and render 3D scenes on the screen.
This talk will give a technical overview of the application model of Java3D and
its building blocks. Then I will introduce the audience how Java3D seems to be
able to provide 3D rendering capabilities for JavaFX applications. By setting
the Node.effect attribute respectively, a JCanvas3D can be content of a parent's
Effect.
After attending this talk, you will understand how Java3D meets JavaFX. The new
user of JavaFX then can get their feet wet and apply 3D technology in JavaFX
today using freely available open source tools.
